Beauty with Benefits
Since 2013, the CEW (Cosmetic Executive Women) Foundation has teamed up with QVC – a teleshopping channel – to present their “Beauty with Benefits” event, during which viewers can shop a selection of products knowing that 80% of the purchase price will go to benefit “Cancer and Careers”, a program aimed at generating more awareness and support for the men and women balancing work and cancer. This year’s event, which has become one of New York’s best end of the year parties, lavishly held at New York’s Waldorf-Astoria, was supported by big brands including Clarins, Bare Minerals, Clarisonic, Sonia Kashuk, Tarte, Tweezerman, Perricone MD, Peter Thomas Roth and Strivectin. Several millions of dollars were raised that evening.
I am all for giving for a good cause. However, what strikes me here is that most of those companies are mass market, and offer products filled with chemical preservatives to extend their shelf lives.
The average woman uses over 15 personal care products daily, the average man about 6. Each product contains an average of a dozen chemicals! Many of these chemicals are carcinogens and neurotoxins.
There are actually very few skin care products on the market that are suitable for the extremely sensitive skin of people with cancer and who are battling the side effects of chemotherapy or radiotherapy. That’s why it is important to recognize what “Signature Cream” can do to help win this daily ugly fight, far away from the limelight of the Waldorf Astoria.
