Pancreatic Cancer Awareness
Pancreatic Cancer: One of the rarest forms of cancer and also one of the deadliest.
The reason for this is that this cancer does not cause any obvious symptoms so victims do not know something serious is wrong. This means that pancreatic cancer is diagnosed relatively late, which limits treatment options.
According to the American Cancer Society, the lifetime risk of pancreatic cancer for both men and women is about 1 in 65.1 While pancreatic cancer is one of the rarest forms of cancer, accounting for about 3% of all cancers in the US, it is also one of the deadliest. Additionally, the tumor cells in pancreatic cancers usually become resistant to the drugs chosen for treatment. This means that the tumors may be reduced in the first stage of therapy, but the cancer cells become resistant to the toxic effect of the drugs and keep growing, even in the presence of drugs.2
Because the prognosis for patients is so bleak, there is a compelling need for innovative treatments for pancreatic cancer. That is why The Beljanski Foundation decided to extend its research program to focus on this deadly form of the disease.
Pancreatic Cancer: Rauwolfia vomitoria and Pao pereira
The effects of two plant extracts, Pao pereira and Rauwolfia vomitoria, on pancreatic tumor cells were studied by scientists at Kansas University Medical Center and were shown to inhibit the growth of multiple pancreatic cancer cell lines, including cells that are resistant to chemo drugs. Additionally, when combined with the chemotherapy drug Gemcitabine, the treatment was especially effective against chemotherapy resistant cells.3,4
Pao pereira was seen to suppress tumor growth by up to 72%
Rauwolfia vomitoria alone decreased tumor weight by 53%
The results of these studies indicate that Pao pereira and Rauwolfia vomitoria hold therapeutic promise for pancreatic cancer as well as a number of other cancers. Please help us spread the word this November about this important research which could be so beneficial for individuals diagnosed with this deadly form of cancer.
Help us to find a cure for pancreatic cancer
Our research is made possible by the generous donations of individuals who believe in the mission of The Beljanski Foundation and share our commitment to making the discoveries of Dr. Mirko Beljanski available to as many people as possible. Your tax-deductible gift can be a wonderful way to honor or memorialize someone.
A recent study shows Increase in Insulin can cause Pancreatic Cancer so it highly recommended having a balanced diet so that Diabetes and Cancer are avoided.
